Description

MirrorMan is a tool that will allow you to mirror a complete drive to another separate drive automatically. MirrorMan runs silently in the system tray monitoring the drive you select to mirror.

I know some of you are screaming, you mean I have to buy an extra hard drive for this program to work!?, well that depends, how important is your data? Most people think that simply copying important files to another folder is enough, but the real issue is that you haven’t really ‘backed up’ your data at all. You simply made another copy of it on the same drive. What if that hard drive you have those copied folders on goes bad? Your copied folder method has just gone out the window. Sure you could pay a company to get your data off of the bad disk, but the cost, you will find is much greater than the cost of a spare drive. In short, with MirrorMan, if either the Mirror 1 drive or the Mirror 2 drive dies, your data is still safe on the other drive. It’s really a small price to pay in the long run.

Requirements

MirrorMan runs on Win9x, NT4, Win2K or WinXP, and Windows Vista. And of course you’ll need a spare, empty drive of the same size or larger than the drive you elect to mirror in order to use MirrorMan.

Installation

Simply double-click the installation executable and follow the onscreen prompts. For zipped installations, select ‘install’ from WinZip® and follow the onscreen prompts. You may or may not be directed to restart your computer depending on the configuration of your computer.

Uninstallation

In the rare case that you would want to uninstall MirrorMan, simply click the ‘uninstall’ shortcut in the MirrorMan Start menu/Programs menu. That's it.

Usage

MirrorMan should be quite straightforward to use. But in case you’re unsure, I'd suggest you read the following short notes on the usage of MirrorMan.

Menus

Menus have been designed to be simple and intuitive, but they are explained here.

File-Close:

Hides the window. Does NOT close MirrorMan. To close MirrorMan you must select ‘Exit’ from the popup menu that is displayed by double-clicking or right-clicking the MirrorMan icon in the system tray.

Edit-Settings

Displays the setup window used to configure MirrorMan.

View-Log

Displays the log for MirrorMan. This log is cumulative since the time MirrorMan has been installed.

Help-Help Topics:

Displays this window.

Help-License.txt:

Help-History.txt:

Help-Readme.txt:

Help-About MirrorMan:

Toolbar

Very few toolbar buttons exist for MirrorMan. This is a design feature to ensure ease of use. They are as follows;

Toggle Mirroring:

This button turns mirroring on/off. Pressed=On, Unpressed=Off. NOTE* - This button can be affected by the ‘Auto-start Mirroring’ function at startup.

MirrorMan Setup:

This button displays the setup window.

Auto-start Mirroring:

This button turns on/off the functionality that allows MirrorMan to automatically start monitoring the drives when it is started. *See Toggle Mirroring.

Start with Windows:

This button sets the ‘Start with Windows’ option. This allows MirrorMan to launch as soon as windows starts.

View Log:

Opens a window displaying the log history since MirrorMan has been installed.

Log Window

MirrorMan keeps a log of all actions that occur. It will display the log in a log window of the current run usage. If you wish to view the log for MirrorMan’s entire usage since installation, simply click the ‘View log” option on the toolbar.

Status Bar

The status bar contains three simple elements, (1), the date and time MirrorMan was started. (2), the time left before the next mirror synchronization. (3), the free space left on the SMALLEST drive selected.
